Mysore style is the traditional way to learn and practice Astanga yoga. Ashtanga yoga is a set sequence of poses called asanas that are always performed in the same order and combined with a specific breathing technique (Ujaya). Ashtanga yoga is based on the philosophy of Patanjali translated from an ancient script by Krishnamacharya and taught to his master student Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who continues to teach the traditional form of Ashtanga yoga to this day.
In a Master Mysore Morning Class the student evolves a self-practice routine based around the capabilities of their own bodies. The teacher works one on one with each student and new postures are learnt as they are ready. A one month commitment is required and attendance is typically 5 (or 6) days per week allowing for one rest day. There are no classes on new and full moon days. Once you have completed Kickstart 1 & 2 then you can join Mysore on a monthly basis.
