Retreat Rundown

A Samudra retreat synthesises the practice of yoga with surfing. We offer each guest an experience that promotes the unification of the mind, body and soul. Practicing yoga will develop focus, strength and flexibility. Surfing will develop your confidence, stamina and ocean awareness. The physical program is complemented by a vegetarian food program to nourish you on your journey of self-discovery.

Samudra has developed an accelerated surf program that is safe and comprehensive and thus removes many of the hurdles associated with learning to surf. Our highly trained and experienced team will address technique, equipment, oceanography, safety, etiquette, and your specific goals.

Similarly our Yoga Instructors focus on the individual, providing you with the opportunity to evolve a dedicated self practice so that you can work with individual body challenges, maintain agility and continue to surf and play for many years to come.

The individual focus of the program is balanced by a group dynamic, laying the foundations for friendships that will last a lifetime.

All Welcome to Attend

Our retreats are open to all levels from absolute beginner to advanced. Although the retreat is geared to a high level of activity, ample free time is scheduled to allow for rest, relaxation and exploration.

Whatever your level of experience or direction of interest, Samudra will endeavour to fulfil your needs. If you are interested in joining us on a Yoga and Surfing Retreat or would like to receive further information about our individual and group packages, please do not hesitate to contact us at Samudra.

 

Will someone pick me up from the airport?

You will need to contact us prior to arrival and depending on the location of the retreat we will be able to advise you accordingly.

 

Can I bring my surfboard or are some available?

You are more than welcome to bring along your own surfboard. We also have beginners boards available which are soft and able to be used to develop quickly. There are also custom boards available as you progress further.

 

Do I bring my own wetsuit?

Yes, for some of the retreats we recommend that you bring your own wetsuit, but most of our retreats are located in tropical climates where a rash shirt is sufficient.

 

Do I need to bring my yoga mat?

Yes

 

I have limited English will I be able to understand?

We have catered for this and believe that the important foundations of Yoga and surfing can be taught without the need for strong English.

 

I have been practising yoga for years - will I be able to learn something new?

We will endeavour to teach all participants as we have been taught. In doing so we will pass on some of the wisdom that we have gained through our travels and yoga tuition throughout the world.

 

I am a beginner at yoga/surfing will I be able to keep up?

We cater for all levels and all ages. If you are a veteran or a beginner we will guide you through the journey you are on. You will return home having learnt more about yourself and what you are able to achieve.

 

What happens if I want to cancel after full payment has been received?

Please refer to the policies section under the bookings heading for all our regulations and cancellation details.

 

I have a strict diet - can I email requests?

On our retreats we aim to provide the freshest ingredients available. If you have medical dietary requirements/ food allergies it would be helpful to know in advance via an email on info@samudra.com.au.

 

Can I organise my own accommodation?

We have designed each of the retreats to include activities and accommodation in the cost. We aim to give the participant an overall experience with the rest of the group. So therefore the selected accommodation is included as part of the experience.

 

I am going to the retreat by myself. Is this normal?

We have lots of people that attend for various reasons with many coming on their own. They may see the retreat as a perfect opportunity to have a break from their normal routine or to meet new people or to advance their yoga practice and surfing.

 

Do I need to have previous experience in surfing or yoga?

Our retreats welcome people of all levels from beginners to advanced. We have designed the course for all participants to get maximum enjoyment out of the retreat. There is no guarantee your will be the next world champion but we will guide you to the best of your abilities with support and encouragement.

 

Do I have to attend the surfing session if I am only interested in yoga?

The retreat is designed to give the participant an overall experience of mind, body and spirit. We welcome everyone to attend each of the sessions to the best of their ability.
